The community of Owatonna is showing their support for a new high school in a big way, with local businesses offering generous financial support. Each local business expressed their love for Owatonna and the need to attract and retain quality employees. Through their combined financial gifts of $22 million plus in-kind donations, it has been an automatic saving on the tax impact to residents. The original cost of the high school project was $138 million and has now been reduced to $116 million!
Thank you to the following local businesses for your continued support to the Owatonna Public School District:
Mayo Clinic Health System
Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism
The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism (OACCT) Board of Directors approved support for the school board’s decision to hold a bond referendum vote on May 14th to fund a new High School facility. The OACCT agrees a new facility is a wise investment and the best long-term solution. The investment will bring the learning environment to 21st century standards and adds another public amenity to attract talent to the area. Our members tell us that attracting and developing talent is the largest challenge they face for the future of their companies. The private sector’s financial commitment to this project makes the timing right to move forward. Our commitment is to provide our members with factual information about the high school proposal so they can make an educated decision.
